While coaching today I had a random thought and without thinking I said it out loud, it was to think positive. It seems a really jerky strange thing to say in a group fitness class, but it isn’t. (Well I at least hope not 🤣).....
When I was a class member, especially at the beginning of my fitness journey, I would always be negative towards myself.
In a class, when it was getting hard I would be saying to myself, ”I can’t do it, just stop, I am done, no no no!” But once I flipped that on its head and actually started hearing the coaches, I began talking to myself in a more positive manner as well, I found I was able to keep going, I was able to do it!
Fitness is just as much a mental game as it is a physical game. In your mind you have to be continually sending yourself positively affirmations to help push yourself to move your body to its full potential.
Tell your self, “I can do this, keep going, don’t stop, 5sec more” etc, whatever encourages you to push out of that comfort zone, make those words work for you! There is no right or wrong. You don’t need to worry about looking or sounding silly because no one else can hear you! It is the positive messages of self love and determination that is going to help you achieve the best you can in that moment!
